Experiencing Persecution as a Person of Privilege (Behind the Collar Series #28)

I have spent a lot of my priesthood protesting; but not too surprisingly, it’s gotten more urgent and frequent in the last several months. This has resulted in my posting a lot more about social justice and activism on here and other platforms than on fitness and queer culture, both of which bring me so much joy. It’s sad to me that I have to focus my energy and digital real estate on the dismantling of democracy, but unfortunately, that’s the world we’re living in. As exhausting as life can be right now, it is teaching me a valuable lesson, one that Black Americans have been telling us for generations, that the United States, for all of its virtues, is still a fundamentally racist, bigoted and elitist society.
